Who is Rally Palli?
Páll Halldór Halldórsson, often called Rally Palli, was born in 1964 and raised in Hnífsdalur. Hnífsdalur is a small village in the Westfjords of Iceland close to Ísafjörður. The village is so small that he only had 6 classmates in elementary school.
Palli worked as a truck driver for many years where he drove between Ísafjörður and Reykjavík. He later moved to Reykjavík where he met his wife Kristín and they have been married since 1992.
Palli has his own company that started during his Rally career and now specialises in Tourist driving along with other special projects.
Racing Career
Palli has competed and won prizes in a lot of driving sports, such as rally racing, rallycross, snowmobiles and motorcycles. He has also won the Icelandic championship in skill driving.
Palli’s first rally competition was in 1988, but the peak of his Rally career was in 1997-2000. That was when he and his partner Jóhannes Jóhannesson founded Jópal ehf. and drove their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV and became national champions in 1998.
Jeep Modification
Palli is well known in the icelandic car community for modifying cars to be used in extremely challenging and harsh environments. He is most proud of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter modification, where they can be used to show people the beautiful landscape in Iceland.
